- The zinc needs adhesion in order for the paint to stick. Preparation is key and will include removing all loose particles and paint on the zinc roof. Afterwards, your zinc roof needs to be washed down with water and left to dry thoroughly.
- Check whether the surface is rusted. If so, apply Paint Master Rust Converter to the rusted area. Sand down the rusted area, wash down with water and ensure that the surface is rust free.
- Also ensure that the surface is free of dust and dirt.
- Now prime the clean metal with Paint Master Water Based Metal Primer, one coat is sufficient. If you stay at the coast, it is best to apply 2 coats of Metal Primer. The spreading rate is approximately 7 m2 per litre. The Primer will take 24 hours to hard dry.
- Start now with waterproofing: Apply 2-3 coats of Paint Master Umbrella with built in fibre. Wait 3-4 hours between coats. Only use a brush and not a roller. The Primer will take 4 to 6 hours to hard dry.
- Apply 2 coats of Paint Master Roof Master. Wait for each coat to dry properly. Roof Master will touch dry in approximately 1 hour and hard dry in approximately 4 to 6 hours. The spreading rate is between 6 and 8 m2 per litre. You can use a brush or roller to paint the Roof Master.
